Micro Focus Licence Management

Introduction

A software licence is an agreement that gives a customer the right to use Micro Focus software products. A software licence makes clear the rights and obligations of both the customer and Micro Focus. Under our software licence, customers do not buy our software products and do not own them – instead, the software licence grants customers the right to use the software products according to the terms of the software licence.

Licence Management

Micro Focus utilises an independent Licence Management service which performs objective reviews of our customers’ use of the software products. The aim of this service is both to ensure contractual compliance by our customers and to enable Micro Focus and the customer to evaluate the optimum licensing solution to meet the customer’s current and future needs.

Output from the review can be the following:

  1. An inventory of your Micro Focus software and its usage
  2. A reconciliation of your Micro Focus licences
  3. An increased awareness of Micro Focus licensing and business terms
  4. Where appropriate, a proposal to ensure compliance with Micro Focus agreements
  5. A proposal to meet your future licensing requirements.

The objective of the review is to optimise your relationship with Micro Focus by ensuring that your organisation is receiving good value and service from Micro Focus and is fully compliant.

Compliance

If a customer is in any doubt regarding its compliance position, it should review its current usage against the Micro Focus End User Licence Agreement ("EULA") delivered with the software product for the licenses purchased. The EULA for current deliveries of software products is below. The EULA outlines clearly the terms under which the licence to use Micro Focus software products is granted. Micro Focus appreciates that non-compliance can occur unintentionally, however, regardless of the reason for non-compliance, Micro Focus will pursue non-compliance issues in order to protect its rights.
