MICRO FOCUS LAUNCHES ENTERPRISE VIEW 5.6

-Micro Focus builds upon Application Portfolio Management solution, enhancing decision support and user experience with new features-

NEWBURY, England, March 5, 2008 — Micro Focus® (LSE.MCRO.L), the leading provider of enterprise application management and modernization solutions, today launched Enterprise View 5.6, the latest addition to its Application Portfolio Management (APM) solution.

Enterprise View 5.6 helps customers make more informed decisions about the management of their enterprise IT assets by providing consolidated business and technical intelligence across an organisation’s portfolio of applications. Enterprise View 5.6 is designed to help reduce maintenance costs, free scarce resources for further innovation, increase customer satisfaction and reduce the risks of strategic initiatives, such as rationalisation, modernisation, off-shoring and outsourcing.

A major challenge facing IT specialists in planning and delivering effective change is a lack of detailed and up-to-date information about the disparate systems running in any one business. Micro Focus Enterprise View enables customers to align IT spending with business strategy, by providing decision support – based on a huge breadth of technology and business information – that help solve business issues. An accurate and timely dashboard of the entire IT application portfolio outlines where value to the business is coming from and provides a solid foundation upon which to base critical decisions around IT expenditure.

Stuart McGill, Chief Technology Officer, Micro Focus, said: "Enterprise View 5.6 underlines our commitment to developing and enhancing enterprise portfolio management solutions. Today’s IT industry is under enormous pressure to deliver business value in everything it does, and APM has a major role to play in easing the burden upon those in control of IT spending. Working closely with our customers, we have made key enhancements to improve the user experience of Enterprise View and expand its analysis capabilities, ensuring that we maintain our position as a leading provider of APM software moving forward."

Responding to the needs of its customers, Micro Focus’ Enterprise View 5.6 builds upon the depth and breadth of the previous version with a number of key enhancements including:

  • Expansion of language, environment and platform support
  • Improved technical analysis capabilities
  • Increased outsource management support
  • New Enterprise View portal to increase reporting flexibility and enhance user experience

Phil Murphy, Principal Analyst, Forrester, wrote: "The transparency provided by APM is bringing application portfolios out of their dark ages; as transparency increases, invisible IT wanes due to management scrutiny. Business leaders will no longer be content with maintenance budgets that simply roll over from previous years — they’ll want to know where funds are spent and why, to make investment decisions like any other corporate asset. IT management that develops robust views of application portfolios will change its role from simply taking orders for changes to a business-technology advisor."
