Micro Focus Enhances Partnership with MigrationWare to Extend Global Reach

Strengthened partnership enables customers to save money, streamline operations and capitalize on existing IT assets

NEWBURY, England, MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA, February 24, 2009 — Micro Focus (LSE.MCRO.L), the leading provider of enterprise application management and modernization solutions, today announced an extended partnership agreement with MigrationWare, the provider of application systems migration technologies and services. MigrationWare has been a Micro Focus partner for over nine years, and the strengthened relationship will increase Micro Focus’ global reach, expand the breadth and depth of its solutions and increase customer access to skilled, deployable modernization and migration specialists.

In an increasingly global economy, it is critical that Micro Focus is able to provide its customer base with fully trained service teams on a moment’s notice – virtually anywhere in the world. The extended partnership means customers receive the global reach they require, and a wider portfolio of modernization and migration solutions. Additionally, fuelled by a rise in customer demand, particularly across the UK, South Africa, Europe and the Nordics, this expanded partnership has allowed Micro Focus to harness MigrationWare’s complementary technology to help migrate its customers’ mission critical business applications to modern, agile and low-cost platforms.

This is the second master service agreement with an existing partner for Micro Focus in the past six months, following an enhanced agreement with Idea Integration in October 2008. The partnership with MigrationWare will help Micro Focus’ enterprise customers to manage, extend and maximize the value of their existing applications, while making them compatible with modern technologies and frameworks. Micro Focus is capitalizing on MigrationWare’s expertise in the migration space to ensure that its customers have the tools they need to be successful.

“Working with Micro Focus has been a partnership in the truest sense of the word. Since 2000, we have worked together to provide our customers with complete, end-to-end solutions which enable them gain the edge they need in a highly competitive market,” said João de Oliveira, sales director, MigrationWare. “The enhanced relationship grants our customers access to each company’s deep knowledge of the application modernization, migration and management spaces.”

Micro Focus and MigrationWare have worked together on numerous modernization projects over the years. More recently, Micro Focus worked with MigrationWare to allow Elektroskandia, a major wholesale retailer of electric goods in Sweden, to migrate its Central Warehouse Management System off the mainframe to a Windows Server environment. As a result, Elektroskandia reduced its annual operating costs by 60 percent, eliminated the need for future mainframe updates and greatly increased developer productivity and speed.

“Micro Focus’ goal has always been to make sure our customers’ needs are met, regardless of their geographic location,” said Peter Gadd, vice president, worldwide technical services with Micro Focus. “Bolstering our relationship with MigrationWare was an obvious choice for Micro Focus, as its capabilities are complementary to our solution offerings. We will continue to work closely with MigrationWare and all of our partners to ensure that our customers have access to the most appropriate resources to support their goals.”
