Micro Focus holds inaugural Texas Solution Forum in Austin
The forum presented a mainframe utilization solution that can reduce costs for any government agency

On 27th November, 2007, The Commons Center at The University of Texas at Austin was host to the first Texas Solution Forum. Many Texas Government Agencies were in attendance to hear about Micro Focus’ Mainframe Reduce Spend Solution (MRSS). The session not only covered the steps and products that encompass MRSS, but a success story was also shared of how one particular agency was able to achieve ongoing savings of $53,000 a month. This case study demonstrated how monthly mainframe MIPS charges were dramatically reduced and how we also enabled them to more efficiently develop, test, compile and analyze COBOL source code.

Additionally, the session covered:

  • The COBOL IDE for the desktop

  • Source code analysis and optimization

  • How to extract and mask data for program testing purposes in compliance with privacy claws

  • Application Modernization and Migration

  • Implementation and Training

Needless to say, the day was not only informative but has also enabled attendees to meet and network with their peers from other agencies. More forums for the public as well as the private sector are being planned throughout the United States. For more information on the next forum, please email info@microfocus.com.
