Changes to the Patches & Fixes link within the SupportLine Web site

We are in the process of replacing the familiar Patches & Fixes  link within the Self-Service menu of the SupportLine Web site with a new Product Updates link, as it is felt that the new link name is more appropriate for what is provided. Both links are currently listed and link to the same URL. In late August, the Patches & Fixes link will disappear and the new Product Updates link will remain.

New Third Thursday WebCast Recording Available

A new Third Thursday WebCast recording is now available for download and/or viewing. In this session, you will learn about Diagnosing and Resolving Problems in Production Applications:
If steps aren't taken beforehand, once an application is released to production it can be very difficult to diagnose or even reproduce application faults. The session outlines best-practices in preparing applications for production release and debugging those applications once in production. Among other techniques, core animation and FaultFinder will be detailed, along with issues to be aware of when using these facilities.

This is a one hour Micro Focus Webcast recorded file (WebEx recorded format .wrf), including audio and video. After clicking on the file, the WebEx Player(~2MB) will be downloaded and installed if needed, and will play automatically. DiagProb_07212005.wrf

Faculty Workshop

Micro Focus is sponsoring a 3-day workshop for IT/IS teaching faculty  to help with the demand for COBOL skills. The workshop will show you how your students can use new tools to revitalize old applications. You'll gain an appreciation of legacy applications as a prized corporate asset, as well as an understanding of the competitive advantage they provide to companies.

Guest speakers from IBM and Microsoft will share insights and information about their complementary efforts to train a new generation of corporate professionals. Using case studies, Micro Focus speakers will present on trends in legacy programming. Learn how corporations are reducing their costs through efficient use of legacy skills and leveraging new technologies on Windows, UNIX, Linux and z/OS. You will also learn about modern, open and extensible ways to integrate and deploy COBOL applications with J2EE and .NET.

The workshop host is Wilson T. Price, Professor Emeritus and author on computer information systems, he currently serves as a consultant and conducts workshops for college faculty on new technology pertaining to COBOL.

This schedule shows the planned (or past) withdrawal dates of Micro Focus products and their successor products. It is advisable for you to check this schedule from time to time, so you can stay up to date on the near term plans for the Micro Focus products that you are using.

A "withdrawn release" means that new corrective fixes will no longer be made available. Limited SupportLine services continue to be available once a product is "withdrawn" until such time as that the release is "withdrawn from support".

The full Product Withdrawal Schedule can be found on the Micro Focus web site at:
