On Friday 4th May 2007, Micro Focus International plc announced the acquisition of San Diego-based Acucorp, Inc.
Acucorp's products connect COBOL software applications with the web, mobile phones, UNIX systems, and other systems. This technology is highly complementary to Micro Focus’ core business and provides the opportunity for Micro Focus to expand its product range and extend its reach into new market areas. “The acquisition of Acucorp is consistent with our strategy of expanding our four core areas of expertise – Application Development, Application Modernization, Application Portfolio Management and Application Information Management,” says Francis Sanville, Market Development Manager, Micro Focus. “Micro Focus has ambitious growth plans and will continue to pursue a strategy of both aggressive organic growth and carefully selected acquisitions in these key areas.”
Micro Focus provides innovative software allowing companies to dramatically improve the business value of their enterprise applications. With the integration of Acucorp, customers will enjoy an even greater breadth and depth of product and service offerings. As well as further leveraging their investment in COBOL applications with a wider range of products, development tools and services, Micro Focus remains committed to delivering the highest levels of business value to its enlarged customer base with its award-winning support and maintenance capabilities.
The acquisition of Acucorp, Inc. will also provide broader development capacity to accelerate innovation to meet customers’ current and future demands. “The integration of Acucorp will give us an enhanced ISV focus with stronger support and programs,” says Francis Sanville, “In particular, it will enable Micro Focus to expand its reach into the small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) market.”
