The FOSE Conference delivered business strategies in 3 tracks (Management, Technology, and Security) developed by a world-class advisory board.
More than 75 free educational sessions were presented in the Theaters on the show floor and adjacent meeting rooms. Participants visited the Destination Zones — targeted areas on the show floor focused on Department of Defense (DoD), Security, Data Storage, and Small Business.
The Micro Focus booth was staffed by Federal Channel team members: Bill Errico, Bob Morin and Paul Halpern, Micro Focus Principal Software Developer Ian White provided technical support along with consultant James Guilfoyle. Booth traffic was excellent with 150 visitors requesting additional Micro Focus solution information. The visitors were from both DoD and Civilian federal agencies. Major topics of interest were SOA and modernization of existing applications.
A survey was taken of booth visitors comparing the adoption of SOA by federal government agencies to that by the private sector. Completed by 68 federal government IT professionals visiting the Micro Focus booth, showed that 89 percent of respondents believe the private sector is outpacing government agencies in their adoption of SOA architectures. When asked why they think government organizations have been slow embrace service oriented architectures, common answers included the " perception that change is difficult, " a " lack of understanding about SOA benefits, " and the " failure of senior management to support SOA " initiatives.
