Announcing extend® version 8.1 WebSync 2 and RM/COBOL® version 12 WebSync 1
We’re pleased to announce that extend 8.1 WebSync 2 is now available for Download for customers with maintenance.
extend 8.1 WebSync 2 includes some enhancements, over 100 corrections and offers Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 support.
RM/COBOL 12 WebSync1 will be available in the middle of February for download.
RM/COBOL 12 WebSync1 includes some enhancements, over 50 corrections and offers Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 support.
End of life for extend® Version 7.x products
Micro Focus is committed to providing ongoing support to users of the extend suite of products over the long term. This product support is delivered via a program of hot fixes and "WebSyncs" where collections of fixes and improvements are made available to all customers on maintenance. The reassurance of this program is critical for most users to ensure they can continue to run their mission-critical applications.
However, in order to provide this reassurance and support at an acceptable cost, as we enhance and improve the extend suite, and bring new product versions to market, we need to rationalize the support we provide for older versions. With our two most recent versions receiving the highest levels of support and older versions receiving a lower level of support and, eventually, a discontinuation of regular maintenance.
extend 7.x Product family
In accordance with this support policy, and as previously announced, the extend 7 product family is entering a "Sundown" status as of 31st of December 2009 and will enter "End of Service" on 31st of December 2010. (Dates may differ in Japan).
This notification is designed to help you plan your software upgrades and take advantage of the latest functionality available with extend 8.1
If you haven’t started the update to extend 8.1, now is the time to be making that move. Version 8.1 offers improved performance and enhanced reliability based on customer requests and provides the base for some new powerful and exciting options. extend 8.1.2,is available and offers Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2 support in addition to some enhancements and over 100 corrections.
When extend 7 reaches "End of Service", we will continue to provide online and telephone support to any customer with a valid support contract for the products. Application Providers will also be able to continue distributing the version 7 runtimes with their applications. However corrections and new features will only be available by upgrading to a more recent version of extend.
