Ismaning, Germany– Siemens Audiologische Technik GmbH (SAT) chose StarTeam from Micro Focus to provide in their change management needs for global software development. The tool is proving to be user-friendly and demands little ongoing maintenance, factors the customer was looking for.
SAT, a leading hearing aid manufacturer, will from now on use the StarTeam Enterprise Advantage 2009 software configuration and change management system from Micro Focus for its distributed software development practise. During software development, Siemens Audiologische Technik will be using the tool to coordinate the various versions of software products they create and keep them consistent no matter how large the development team is, or where it’s located.
Previously, StarTeam was part of the Borland product range. When Borland was acquired by Micro Focus in mid-2009, the solution joined the Micro Focus product lines.
SAT decided to replace its previous version management system in the course of introducing .NET as development platform. When it analysed the options, it found that the Micro Focus solution was exceptionally user-friendly, and offered very high performance for remote teams. Another important factor in its favour was the comparatively low administrative overhead that StarTeam offered.
Siemens Audiologische Technik is using StarTeam worldwide in locations across Europe, Asia and America. The solution enables globally distributed development at little extra investment in infrastructure.
"With StarTeam we’ve found a solution that supports our distributed development processes brilliantly,” says Claus Reinlein, Team Leader of the CM group at Siemens Audiologische Technik in Erlangen. "Especially in global use we want tools that don’t need much maintenance, and StarTeam pushes this button as well.”
