Overview
Micro Focus and Borland are creating hosted versions both of their existing applications and new market offerings. Many of these applications will be hosted in a cloud environment.
The SaaS Architecture team is responsible for:
- Defining, and delivering a shared architecture and components for all cloud and SaaS based products to leverage.
- Working with other parties, both internally and externally as necessary.
- Assisting in the roll-out of other development teams into SaaS and Cloud based offerings.
This is a technical development role so the successful applicant will be involved in all aspects of the software development lifecycle including design, development, testing and support.
The role is in the Newbury office but will involve working closely with teams in other design centres (notably Austin, Texas, and Linz, Austria), and able to travel to those locations on an occasional basis.
Requirements
- Education to Degree Level in Computer Science or similar subject.
- At least 5 years technical experience in software development, with at least 2 years’ experience of web applications.
- Strong technical software skills, including design and architecture.
- A highly personable team player who is able to work effectively with colleagues and customers.
- An effective communicator who is able to explain complex technical issues.
- Able to demonstrate innovative and creative thinking.
- Flexible and adaptable attitude.
- Quality focused.
Technical Skills
- Strong Java/J2EE skills.
- Strong web application architecture skills, REST, web-services.
- Experience of building, deploying, and delivering commercial SAAS solutions.
- Experience of deploying applications into Cloud architectures (Amazon EC2, Azure or others) highly advantageous.
- Experience of any of the following advantageous: Single sign-on; Jersey; Spring;
- Experience of an Agile development methodology desirable.
