Micro Focus Achieves Champion Status in Info-Tech Research Group's Software Testing Solutions Report

Borland Silk Central solution recognized a second time for its robust set of testing capabilities across a unified framework

24 April 2013

Micro Focus (LSE:MCRO.L), the leading provider of enterprise application modernization, testing and management solutions, today announced its Borland Silk Central solution has been awarded "champion" status for the second year running in Info-Tech Research Group's Software Testing Solutions Vendor Landscape report. Through a comprehensive review of companies offering a range of software testing suites, the report is designed to help IT leaders in mid-sized to entry level enterprises choose the vendor best suited to their organization's testing needs.

In its evaluation, Info-Tech Research Group acknowledged Micro Focus' Borland Silk Central as a leading product with a robust set of testing capabilities across a unified testing framework and an intuitive interface. The product was originally given "champion" status in Info-Tech Research Group's Software Test Management Report in May 2012, and retains that status in the 2013 report alongside three other vendors. According to Info-Tech Research Group, the product's comprehensive features, usability, architecture, viability, and the company's strategy, reach and channel mark Borland Silk Central as a leading market offering.

Randy Hearne, Senior Research Analyst at Info-Tech Research Group said: "Borland Silk Central has a number of strengths that make it a champion product. In particular, its cloud integration runs peak demand loads without having to invest in load testing, hardware, and setup. It also has a zero-maintenance approach where tests, and their structure in Silk Central, are automatically maintained based on execution, thereby generating more time for analysis. Overall, Micro Focus is a long-standing player in the ALM space and it continues to offer robust testing functionality and features in all its products, including Silk Performer, Silk Test, Silk Mobile, Caliber, and DevPartner."

Archie Roboostoff, Borland Solutions Portfolio Director at Micro Focus, said: "The critical issue test managers face is how to balance all the pressures of software development projects and still build test frameworks as early as possible so that they can identify and correct problems without causing delays, while continually managing risk. We've built Borland Silk Central to deliver this. It collects, prioritizes and controls all aspects of test and test management to help teams ultimately deliver better software, faster."
