Preface

Fileshare is a client/server system designed to provide more efficient processing of data files that are accessed concurrently, across a network, by a large number of users.

In addition, Fileshare offers features that are not available with the base COBOL file handler including transaction processing and rollforward recovery logging.

This user guide is for COBOL programmers who are using Net Express or Server Express to create applications that need to use any of the facilities provided by Fileshare:

Mainframe Express
Fileshare is supplied with Mainframe Express solely because it is used by other Mainframe Express components. This guide will assist you if you have any problems setting up these components to use Fileshare. Writing Fileshare applications is not supported in Mainframe Express. You must use Micro Focus Net Express to write such applications. Please see your sales representative for more information about Net Express.
