Chapter 5: Verifying a Euro Conversion

This chapter outlines how you can use EuroSmart to verify that a euro enabled application has been converted satisfactorily.

5.1 Using EuroSmart in a Verification Process

You can use EuroSmart as part of the quality assurance and auditing process, to verify that an application was converted satisfactorily. You use EuroSmart for verifying only applications that have been changed by hand or by a product other than EuroSmart.

The process for verifying a previous conversion effort essentially involves repeating the original EuroSmart analysis process:

  1. Create a EuroSmart project for the application, and load the source files into the database.

  2. Identify the points of interest, and add them to the worksheet.

  3. Ensure that the required fixes have been carried out. The EuroSmart snapshot and interim reports are likely to be of use in this phase. You might also export the points of interest for examination in Micro Focus Mainframe Express.

The main difference between using EuroSmart to convert an application and using it to verify a previous conversion is in the use of the category system. When you use EuroSmart for quality assurance you use the category system to highlight any shortcoming in the modification process of the points of interest in the original conversion.
