EKS Upgrade for 21.1.4

Prerequisites for the EKS Upgrade

This procedure will upgrade the existing control plane and worker nodes from their present Kubernetes version to EKS 1.23. As the EKS version may only be upgraded one version number at a time, the process will need to be repeated for one version at a time until the cluster is at the required version.

During each stage of the upgrade, the worker nodes are replaced one at a time with the newer EKS version, so as to avoid data loss or excessive cluster downtime.
