5.1 Installing Policy Editor

5.1.1 Prerequisites

  1. To install Policy Editor, the operating system must have VC++ 2013 redistributable x86 version, and .NET Framework 4.8 or later installed.

    NOTE:VC++ 2013 redistributable x86 version is bundled with the Policy Editor installer.

5.1.2 Installation

  1. In Agent Manger, click All Assets > Manage Installation > Download Package.

  2. Download the available version of Policy Editor.

  3. Copy the ChangeGuardianPolicyEditor.zip file to the computer where you want to install Policy Editor and extract the files.

    The package includes NetIQCGPolicyEditorInstaller.exe, vcredist_x86.exe, and NetIQCGPolicyEditorInstaller.exe.config. Both files must be in the same directory.

  4. Run vcredist_x86.exe.

  5. Install Policy Editor as an administrator.

NOTE:A screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels or lower is recommended when you use the Policy Editor.

5.1.3 Verifying the Installation

To verify:

  • Ensure that Policy Editor is available in the list of installed programs in Windows Control Panel

  • Launch Policy Editor and log in with an account in the local administrators group

    When Policy Editor starts, it connects to the Policy Repository with an account that is a member of the administrator or Change Guardian administrator role. The Policy Repository runs on the Change Guardian server.
