New Windows file system document store

NOTE: The Windows file system store in Content Manager connects to stores which are accessible as Windows file systems.

  1. Click Administration - Document Stores.

    The Document Stores window appears.

  2. Right-click and on the New Document Store menu, click Windows File System from the displayed list.

    The New Document Store dialogue box appears.

  3. Fill in the fields on the File System tab:
    • Name - the name you give the store of your electronic items
    • Store Location - store folder path and name

      NOTE: To hide the folder name as a security measure, you can type %Global% in this field. This will create the new store in the folder specified in the field Path for Default Document Store by the administrator when the dataset was set up. See Content Manager Enterprise Studio Help for detail about the field Path for Default Document Store.

    • NOTE: Once a store is created with this option set, it cannot be unchecked.

  4. Select the required options on the General tab. See Document stores general settings.
  1. Complete the details on the Storage Pool tab. See Using document stores options.Document Store Storage Pool tab
  2. Fill in the fields on the Tiered Storage tab, if required. See Tiered storage.
  3. Fill in the Usage tab - optional. See also Configuring the usage details.
    • Test - click to test the store link
  4. Click OK.

    Content Manager saves your new store and it appears in the list pane.

NOTE: If you are creating a new electronic document store to replace an old one, remember to point your Record Types to the new store.
