Request renditions

Use Rendering Requests under the Electronic sub-menu to explicitly request a new rendition to be created for the selected record or a set of tagged records.

This will add the request to the auto render queue with the highest priority.

Choose between the rendition options:

  • Create PDF Rendition - select to request a .pdf file rendition for long term storage
  • Create OCR Rendition - select to request an Optical Character Recognition rendition of the original document, created by identifying and extracting text from the image of the document, for example, a scanned newspaper image. This is the only rendition format that Content Manager indexes the document content of.

Only available when OCR image processing is set up in Content Manager. See CM23.3_IDOL_DCI_Install_Config.pdf.
  • Create TIFF Rendition - select to request a .tiff/.tif file rendition of the original document

When a Rendition is requested, the Request an automatic rendition dialogue box appears.

  • Promote the requested rendition to be the latest revision of the document - select this option to promote the requested rendition to be the latest revision of the record.
  • Send me an email message once the rendition request is complete - select this option to be notified via email when the rendition request is complete.
  • Override default size settings from Content Manager Enterprise Studio - select this option to modify the rendition output size settings and override the default size settings defined in Content Manager Enterprise Studio.
    • Compressed - available for TIFF renditions only - select this option to compress the rendition file size.
    • GreyScale - select this option to produce the rendition in GreyScale and reduce the file size.
      • Resolution (in DPI) - from the drop-down list, select the Resolution (DPI) the rendition is to be generated with. The lower the number, the smaller the file size.

When it is over-used, for example to raise the priority of longevity rendition creation, then the waiting times will increase and redactable renditions may not be available in time to respond to a request for information.

Only the rendition types that do not exist yet can be requested.

The appropriate rendition type is for the electronic document to be in .pdf or .tiff format.

  • Status - displays the status of the rendition request. This only applies to the currently selected record, not all tagged records.

When you click New Redaction under the New sub-menu and no redactable rendition exists, then Content Manager will prompt you automatically to request a new redactable rendition.
