Display Hits
Display Hits is an option for users to automatically highlight the words in the Content Manager viewer which they searched for within records in Content Manager, which enables you to quickly find the relevant portions of the text in a document returned by the search.
Content Manager provides Display Hits not only for document content searches, but also for:
- All text searches, for example, Title Word, Notes Word, Any Word, Document Content, Thesaurus Term, Classification Word and Schedule Word
- In Record Number and Retention Schedule searches, any instances of that number within the attached document will be highlighted
- In Location searches - Assignee, Home, Owner, Author, etc. - any instances of that Location or a word from the Location name will be found.
For example, search for Peter Abbott and Content Manager will highlight any instances of his full name, Peter or Abbott.
The process:
- Text search will find the text within any records within the Content Manager database
- If a record contains attached electronic documents, you can open the document to view the search matches within it
- Once the option is selected, Content Manager will highlight all text matching the search criteria in the document.
Because of the unique way in which Content Manager enables the combination of metadata searching with document content searching, it also implements combined display of hits.
For example, a metadata search by title word Automobile combined with a content search Engine will highlight both of the search terms in the document viewer.
Content Manager also applies Display Hits to different levels of documents you are viewing.
For example, when you are viewing an email message, Content Manager highlights the search terms in the message.
If the message has an attachment and you choose to open it in the viewer, Content Manager will also highlight the terms in the attachment.
Display Hits is only available for documents with readable text content.
