Modifying a record's Record Type
Record Types are the basic building blocks for your records. They contain the default configuration and data that are applied when a record is created.
NOTE:
- If the current and destination Record Types are set up differently, you may receive the following message,
Can't change the type because the Basic Record Type or Level Number are different, or because the Allowed Tasks, Titling Method or Format are not identical for both types.
If you see this message, ensure that the two Record Types are set up the same except for the Record Type name and numbering pattern.
- When you modify a record's Record Type, the record number does not have to match the numbering pattern set up in the Record Type.
- Search for the record whose Record Type you want to modify
- Right-click the record and on the Administrative Tools menu, click Record Type.
The available Record Types appear for you to select the new Record Type for the record.
- Click OK.
The record's icon will change to match that of the selected Record Type.
