Space system caption editor
This function enables you to change the names of all levels in the Space system.
These caption changes are unique to the selected Space system.
For example, change Warehouse 1 to Hume Repository and only Warehouse 1 will be changed to this new title.
Warehouse 2, Warehouse 3 etc. will remain the same.
- Access the function from right-click - Set Level Captions in the Space Management window.
The level caption defaults to Warehouse 1, Warehouse 2 etc. when creating the Space system.
- Right-click - Set Level Caption.
- Type your caption.
- Click OK.
Content Manager has changed the caption.
Setting level captions below the selected level in the Set Level Caption dialogue is possible only if the lower level does not have an existing caption.
For example, a Space system consists of four levels: Warehouse 1, Floor 1, Area 1, Bay 1 - these are also the default level item names.
- Right-click the Bay level and in the Set Level Captions dialogue box, enter Shelf for the Bay level.
- Now right-click the Warehouse level, select Set Level Caption and in the Set Level Captions dialogue box, change Warehouse, Floor, Area and Bay levels to Storage, Section, Row and Compartment respectively.
The Space system level descriptions will now read Storage 1, Section 1, Row 1, Shelf 1.
As the Bay level description had been named already to Shelf, it will not accept the change to Compartment.
This functionality works on the premise that if a lower level caption is changed at that particular level - as opposed to setting the caption while designating all parent level captions in the Set Level Caption dialogue - the user is regarding that level to be outside the hierarchical naming structure of the Space system and should therefore not be included in any future changes made to the level captions inherited from the higher levels.
To bypass this functionality, use Inherit in the Set Level Caption dialogue box.
Select to deactivate the relevant Space Level Caption input box and Content Manager will derive the description for that level from the immediate parent level.
NOTE:
- If a caption is left blank in the Set Level Caption dialogue, the level description will revert back to the default level description - for example, Warehouse, Floor, Area etc. and will be treated as being uncaptioned
- If the user captions a level using the equivalent default captions - for example, caption the Warehouse level to Warehouse - the level will be considered captioned and behave as outlined under the Inheriting captions from higher levels section above
This will result in all levels being regarded as captioned, and therefore, all levels will behave as described under the Inheriting captions from higher levels section above.
