Options Viewer page
It is possible to view electronic documents, for example, email messages, word processing documents, spreadsheets, graphics etc. that are in Content Manager from within Content Manager itself - without checking them out - by using the Content Manager viewer that enables you to view files in most file formats.
You can set Content Manager to automatically display an electronic document when it is attached to a record you are viewing or view electronic documents in their native application.
See Options Search page - Automatically view electronic documents section.
Use this tab to set the Content Manager viewer behaviour.
- Click Options and select the Viewer page.
- Bypass Viewer for these File Types - the Content Manager viewer will not attempt to view files of the file types in this list.
Content Manager will rather view them with their associated application as set in Windows.
For details about viewing documents in their native associated application, see About Bypass viewer for the following file types.
- Use an Internet Explorer Plugin - select for Content Manager to attempt to use an Internet Explorer plug-in rather than its viewer or the associated application.
NOTE: The Internet Explorer plug-in is designed for applications that can appear in Internet Explorer. Although you can view for example *.bmp, *.mny and *.sln files correctly with this setting, others like Microsoft Paint or Visual Studio files are not supported by Internet Explorer plug-ins. To view *.bmp files, set the file type to Bypass Viewer.
- Use same viewer window when viewing electronic documents - select for the Content Manager viewer to use the already open viewer window to show another electronic document.
When selected, the record right-click command View In New Window will become available.
You can use it to open a new viewer window for a document, which enables you to tag multiple documents and view all of them at the same time.
- When viewing mail messages and a native mail rendition exists, launch the associated application - views an email message in its associated application.
- Bypass Viewer for these File Types - the Content Manager viewer will not attempt to view files of the file types in this list.
- Click OK.
