Viewing, replying and forwarding checked in email
When you view an email, it appears with two tabs in the viewer:
- Message - the email message.
Also shows Author and Recipient details.
Attachments appear in the Attachments section.
- Header - the header detail
TIP: When you use the preview function with a large email, Content Manager will display the top of the email in the preview pane.
To see a larger area of the email, resize the preview pane. You can now use the scroll bar to view the rest of the email.
Reply starts the user's email system on the local computer and creates a new email with the following data:
- The sender details of the registered email will be inserted into the TO field
- The subject of the registered email will be inserted into the Subject field prefixed with RE:
- The text body and header information of the registered email will be inserted into the body of the email in lines of about 75 to 80 characters prefixed with a > sign
Reply to All starts the user's email system on the local computer and create a new email with the following data:
- The sender and addressee details of the registered email will be inserted into the TO field, the CC details will be added to the CC field
- The subject of the registered email will be inserted into the Subject field prefixed with RE:
- The text body and header information of the registered email will be inserted into the body of the email in lines of about 75 to 80 characters prefixed with a > sign
Forward starts the user's email system on the local computer and create a new email with the following data inserted:
- The subject of the registered email will be inserted into the Subject field prefixed with FW:.
- The text body and header information of the registered email will be inserted into the body of the email in lines of about 75 to 80 characters prefixed with a > sign.
- Attachments will be added to the email as attachments.
NOTE:
- Send errors will occur if the email was registered with a proprietary address from one email system and the user is using a different one, e.g. the message was registered with an Exchange address and the user is not using Outlook.
- The options only support the native mail system option, not the Content Manager send mail dialogue. This means that only the mail address lists are accessible to add additional recipients and not the Content Manager Locations. If you want to use the Content Manager mail viewer, you need to use the Send to Mail Recipient record task.
- Because Content Manager is not an email system, there is not enough information stored for the message header to contain a link to the original email message
