Property Editor
The Content Manager Property Editor displays a list of properties that can be searched and allows users to updated multiple objects and to modify multiple properties of those object(s) using a single dialogue.
The Property Editor option is available for the following Content Manager objects that are in an editable state, if the object cannot be modified, for example, Workflow Activities that are in a completed state, the Property Editor option will not be available:
- Records
- Record Types
- Locations
- Classifications
- Retention Schedules
- Spaces
- Thesaurus
- Holds
- Consignments
- Document Queues
- Security Guide Entries (US Classified Security)
- Origins
- Meetings
- To Do items
- Workflows
- Workflow Templates
- Workflow Activities
- Check In Styles
Using the Property Editor
For supported object types, the Property Editor option is available from the object right-click menu - Property Editor.
The Edit multiple properties and Additional Field values dialogue is displayed, listing all supported properties that can be modified using this tool.
NOTE: If the dialogue is opened from a single object, the properties will be displayed with their current Value for each property applied to the selected object.
Searching for properties
On the Edit multiple properties and Additional Field values dialogue, in the Search field, type in the name of the property to be updated. The displayed list will be automatically refined to display only those properties that match the search value. To clear the search value, click
and the entire list will be displayed.
NOTE: The search option will only be available if there are more than 30 properties listed in the Property Editor dialogue.
Adding or modifying property values
- Search for and select the object(s) to be updated, right-click and click Property Editor.
The Edit multiple properties and Additional Field values dialogue is displayed with Property, Format and New value columns. -
Search for, or browse for, the property name to be updated, select and click Modify; alternatively, double-click the property name.
The Enter a new value... dialogue is displayed.TIP: If the selected property is a Boolean type field, e.g. Enclosed, double-click will toggle between the available Boolean options.
NOTE: The options that are available on the property value edit dialogue that is displayed is dependent on the type of property being modified.
Check the option Only Custom Properties to display only the custom properties.

Either type in the new value to be applied, select the new value from the drop-down list, or click the 'select' button (a KwikSelect or Calender button, depending on the field type), to display a search/edit control dialog to allow you to select the required value from a defined list.
Some property types, such as some Location types, have an option to select clear the value that has been assigned to the property. If the existing value for the property is to be removed for all selected objects, select the Clear <Property Name> value option on the Enter new value... dialogue and click OK.NOTE: The new value that will be applied to the selected objects is displayed in the New value column on the Edit multiple properties and Additional Field values dialogue. The Property name and New value are also displayed as BOLD text when it's been modified. If the property value has been cleared, the New value column will display <clear> to indicate that the property's attached value will be removed from the selected object(s).
Some properties support multiple values, for example, Author and Addressee. If you have tagged multiple items and using Property Editor you are modifying properties that support multiple values then, in the Enter a new value dialog, you have the option to set multiple values. Select the Set multiple values option. Click + to add values or click X to remove values in Add these or Remove these columns. Once you have modified the values, Click OK.

Repeat steps 2 to 3 to update other supported property values using the Property Editor, if required.
TIP: To view all properties that have been modified, click New value column header to sort the column to display all fields that have a been modified at the top of the list.
If you have tagged multiple objects, option to clear the value is enabled. Click Clear will clear the value of the property.

Click OK to apply the modified values to the selected object(s). If multiple objects are being updated, click Yes or Yes to All to apply the changes.
NOTE: Some properties have dependent properties, if there are other properties that have to be completed based on the modifications being applied, a warning will be displayed advising the of the dependent property(ies). The user will either need to Reset the modified value that has the dependency, or apply a value to the dependent property before they will be able to save the changes.
