Modifying the view pane
You can change the order of the fields in a view pane by dragging.
You can customise the view pane by using the Customise View Pane dialogue.
- You can add or remove fields.
- You can change the order the fields are in by dragging them
- The list of available fields is predefined and can't be changed
- Open a list window - for example, perform a search to generate a search results list or open a Locations list
- Right-click in the view pane and select Customise.
The View Pane dialogue box appears.
- To add a field:
- use the Search field to search for and select the Available Fields from the results list to be added to the viewpane. To reset the Available Fields list back to the default list, click the Clear button on the Search field; OR
- scroll through the list; OR
- on the keyboard tap the first letter in the name of the field to jump through the list
Select the Available Fields to be added and click Add to add it to the Displayed Fields list.
When you add a field, Content Manager removes it from the Available Fields list.
- To remove a field, select a field in the Displayed Fields list and click Remove.
When you remove a field, Content Manager adds it to the Available Fields list.
- To move a field up or down the list, use the Up and Down buttons.
- To remove a field, select a field in the Displayed Fields list and click Remove.
When you remove a field, Content Manager adds it to the Available Fields list.
- To move a field up or down the list, use the Up and Down buttons.
- To add a field:
- Click OK to save your changes.
- If the system administrator has locked configuration of the view pane, i.e the Customise command is not there, then you cannot drag any fields, either.
- Modifying the view pane on a record search results list will only make changes to the view pane for the Record Type of the selected record in the list pane. You will need to modify the view pane for each Record Type.
- Some view pane fields are composed of merged sets of metadata.
For example, the Full Description Location field within the view pane will display a Location's:
- Organisation
- Gender
- Title Code
- Initials
- Prefix
- Last name
- Suffix
For record view panes, the view pane can be updated for individual record types, see Modifying the view pane or it can be modified for multiple record types by using the Customise Multiple option.
Customising the view pane for multiple record types
- On an open records search results window, right-click in the viewpane and click Customise Multiple. The Customise view panes dialogue box appears.
- Tag the record types whose record view panes you want to update.
- Select Copy from and from the drop-down list or by using the KwikSelect to select the record type whose view pane settings you want to copy to the selected record type to, then click OK. The view panes for the tagged record types will be updated to match the copied record type's view pane settings; OR
- Select Pick the properties and fields to add or remove and then click Add or click Remove to display Select properties... dialogue to choose the fields to be added or removed from the view panes.
- To select the fields to be added or removed, on the Select properties... dialogue, you can:
- search for fields using the Search field (click the Clear button to reset the list back to the default); OR
- you can scroll through the list; OR
- on the keyboard tap the first letter in the name of the field to jump through the list to find the required properties.
- Tag the required properties and then click OK. The selected properties will be added to the relevant column.
- Click OK and the record view panes for the tagged record types will be updated to match your selected properties.
The Cascading Properties option allows users to include properties from a parent property on the child object's view pane so details of the parent object can be seen without having to navigate away from the child object. For example, on records, users can opt to include additional properties about the container on the contained record's view pane.
Only properties that have properties, such as objects, can have Cascading Properties setup on them.
NOTE: To enable Cascading Properties, the User Option, Show Cascade Properties in View Pane for Object Properties, found on the User Interface page, must be enabled.
- Open a list window - for example, perform a search to generate a search results list or open a Locations list.
- In the view pane, right-click on the property to be updated and click Setup Cascade Properties.
The Cascade Properties dialogue box appears.
- To add a field:
- use the Search field to search for and select the Available Fields from the results list to be added to the selected property. To reset the Available Fields list back to the default list, click the Clear button on the Search field; OR
- scroll through the list; OR
- on the keyboard tap the first letter in the name of the field to jump through the list
Select the Available Fields to be added and click Add to add it to the Displayed Fields list.
When you add a field, Content Manager removes it from the Available Fields list.
- To remove a field, select a field in the Displayed Fields list and click Remove.
When you remove a field, Content Manager adds it to the Available Fields list.
- To move a field up or down the list, use the Up and Down buttons.
- To add a field:
- Click OK to save your changes.
