Removing Attached Thesaurus Terms
There are three methods of removing attached Thesaurus terms from records.
Using this option, you can detach a single or multiple Thesaurus terms from a single or multiple records.
- Search for and select the records you want to add the term(s) to.
- Right-click, point to Details and then click Detach Thesaurus Terms.
The Select From Thesaurus Terms dialogue box appears.

In the Term list, select the term(s) you want to remove.
Scroll down the list or select an item and then type the first letter of the term you are searching for.
The list will then display all terms starting with the character you typed.

Click Add to the selected term(s) to the Thesaurus Terms to detach from all tagged records list.
- Click OK and accept the prompts to remove the terms.
This method of removing Thesaurus Terms can only be used to remove Thesaurus Terms from a single record.
- Search for and select the record you want to remove the term(s) to.
- Right-click the record, point to Details and then click Browse Thesaurus Terms.
The Maintain Attached Thesaurus Terms dialogue box appears.

In the Attached Thesaurus Term list, select the Thesaurus Term(s) to be detached from the record, right-click and click Remove.
If a single term is selected, it will be removed immediately. If multiple terms are tagged, the remove tagged dialogues will appear, follow the prompts to remove the terms.
- The Maintain Attached Thesaurus Terms dialogue is displayed, listing the remaining attached Thesaurus Terms (if any). Click OK.
- Search for the record you want to remove the attached terms from
- Either double-click or right-click the record and select Properties.
The Properties dialogue box appears.
- General tab - displays the Thesaurus terms used in the record's title.
You can modify the Thesaurus component of a record's title here.
- Attached Thesaurus Terms tab - displays both attached terms and terms used in the title.
The Attached Thesaurus Terms tab displays any attached terms and describes the attachment type.
If the term is used in the record's title, (Title) will appear after the term.
- General tab - displays the Thesaurus terms used in the record's title.
- To remove an attached term, right-click the term and select Remove.
The right-click Remove command is not available for terms used in record titles.
Thesaurus terms used in titles cannot be removed in this tab.
