Deleting records
This function enables you to remove or delete records from the Content Manager dataset.
Content Manager will apply the function to all tagged records or the selected record only.
- Search for the records you want to delete
- In the search results window, select or tag the records you want to delete
- Right-click and select Administrative Tools - Delete or select File - Delete.
If you have tagged multiple records, the Apply To dialogue box will appear for you to confirm whether you want to delete the tagged records or the currently selected one.
You can prevent this dialogue box from appearing in the future.
If the record is not a container for other records, then a simple confirmation message will appear.
If the record is a container, then the Delete Record dialogue box will appear:
- Delete all contained Records - Content Manager will delete all containers and records enclosed in this record on every level - will be deleted.
Content Manager will not delete records that are contained inside other records but are not enclosed.
CAUTION: Before deleting records, make sure you really want to remove these records from Content Manager.
You will not be able to restore these records if deleted them by accident.
- Keep the contained records, updating their Home to - retains any records that are contained and updates their Home Locations to what you select in the field below
- Delete all contained Records - Content Manager will delete all containers and records enclosed in this record on every level - will be deleted.
- Click OK
- Only administrators or users with appropriate administration access can delete a record.
- This function is only available if Delete record is an activated task in the Record Type.
