List panes and view panes
Many of the windows in Content Manager are divided into two portions:
- List pane at the top - displays items in a list.
This can be a search results list, a Locations list, a Thesaurus list etc.
- View pane at the bottom - displays details for the selected item in the list pane.
Some view pane properties may display as Click to display, click the property row in the view pane to display the associated metadata.
Property fields that contain more than 2 lines, will have the option to expand/collapse the 'row' in the view pane. Fields that can be expanded or collapsed will include a chevron
in the field. Click the chevron to expand, or collapse, the field; a scroll bar will be available for fields that have more than 7 lines displayed.
When viewing items, the view pane may display tabs to reveal more information about the selected item:Properties - the default tab - displays defined properties for the selected item
NOTE: If the document is Managed in Place, then Backup Date, Backup MIP file, and Backup MIP Store details are displayed in the Properties tab. These properties are not available in either Records properties or Record Type properties forms for customising or modifying the view.
Notes - displays the Notes field
Preview - for records - if applicable, displays a preview of the current version of an electronic record
Previous - for records - if applicable, displays the previous version of an electronic record
Rendition - for records - if applicable, displays the most recent rendition of an electronic record
TIP:
- Display in list pane and view pane only what you need; showing more fields will slow the searching and displaying of your search results
- Click a column header to sort the search results in the list pane by that column.
Click once to sort in ascending order, click again to sort in descending order.
