Noise words

This is a list of words that will not be indexed if they are used in record titles, notes, Thesaurus terms and Classifications.

Noise words ensure that your search lists will not be cluttered with unhelpful or forbidden terms and preserves the speed of retrieval of indexed records.

Common noise words:

• about
• and
• of
• that
• the

You can add as many of your own words as you want to the noise word list.

Content Manager is supplied with an example list of English noise words that you can load using the functions described in Content Manager DataPort Help about the data import function.
