Number pattern characters
NOTE: Record numbers are limited to a length of 50 characters or digits.
If you use part numbering, make sure you count all part separators - up to five - and the two digit part number towards this limit when you are planning your record number pattern.

| X | Any character that must be typed in at the time of creating a record - trailing blanks are allowed - however, this pattern does not compress leading zeros and is not recommended for a number pattern that will use part numbering because the part number separator may be too difficult to determine |
