Dataset logon and broadcast messages
Messages enable the Content Manager administrator to display logon and broadcast messages per dataset.
Use this function to give users information when they log on to the dataset.
- Expand Datasets
- Right-click the dataset you want to lock and from the Utilities menu, select Availability.
The Dataset Availability dialog box appears.
- Type your message in the Broadcast Notification/Status Message field.
The message can have a maximum of 250 characters.
- Click OK.
The message appears every time a user logs on or switches between datasets, until you either change or delete the message.
NOTE: Content Manager enables you to save different dataset messages for each of the three Availability options, for example:
- Allow New Connections to this Dataset message: Welcome to Content Manager
- Prevent New Connections to this Dataset message: Dataset is currently not accepting new connections.
- Stop All Dataset Activity message: The Dataset is closed for maintenance.
Use this function to give users information while they are logged on to the dataset.
- Click to expand Datasets
- Right-click the dataset you wish to send messages for and select Utilities - Availability

The Dataset Availability dialog box appears
- Select the Broadcast Message tab
- Type the message text you wish to send
- Click Send
- Click OK
Content Manager displays the broadcast message to users in a message window.
