Suppressing document content indexing
You can exclude electronic documents from having their content indexed. This may be desirable because of policy, or because a particular file is causing problems for the indexing engine.
For all files of a particular file type
- In Content Manager, on the Administration ribbon, click System
- On the File Types tab, select a file type in the list and click Properties
- Uncheck the Content Indexing option. Select a file type in the list and click Properties
This will exclude all electronic documents of this type from having their document content indexed.
For all electronic documents with a particular Record Type
- In Content Manager, click Manage
- Click Record Types
- Right-click a Record Type and click Properties
- If the Record Type supports electronic documents, the Electronic tab contains the option Suppress Content Indexing
- If it is selected, Content Manager will neither index the content of electronic documents attached to records of this Record Type nor search their content while reindexing it
- If it is not selected, Content Manager will index the content of electronic documents attached to records of this Record Type and search their content while reindexing it
