Editing Record Properties from the view pane
Record properties can be updated from the view pane, rather than right-clicking on a record and selecting the required menu option. The properties that can be updated on the type of record that it is, the way your Content Manager administrator has set up the system, and your user/access permissions.
Fields that you may be able to update from the view pane are:
- Notes - add or edit notes attached to records. See Notes.
- Dates- edit date fields. See Dates.
- Date Created
- Date Registered
- Date Due
- Date Published
- Last Action Date
- Locations - modify the record's location details. See Modifying record Locations.
- Assignee
- Home Location
- Owner Location
- Container - to add the record to a container or modify the existing container. See Setting or changing containers.
- Retention Schedule - add or modify the record's Retention Schedule. See Applying Retention Schedules to records.
- Record Class - add or modify the class of a record. See Modifying Record Class.
- Date Inactive - set the record disposition to be Inactive, or modify the Date Inactive. See Changing record disposition.
- Record Title - add or edit the title of a record. See Modifying record titles

- Classification
- Edit Status - checks in the checked out record or electronic document or attach an electronic document to a record. For related information, see Attaching electronic documents to records and Checking in checked out electronic documents.
- Record Numbers - modify the record's number. See Modifying record numbers

To edit a property, in the view pane, click the Edit button (
) next to the field name in the view pane and the relevant dialogue box will be displayed. Update the details as required and click OK. The record property will be updated.
