Word indexes

The word indexing function creates a searchable index of all words in text fields in your Content Manager dataset.

It enables you to configure your word indexing parameters and reindex your word indexes.

  • Noise Words - these are commonly used words like articles or conjunctions.

Examples are about, and, of, that, etc.

The Administration - Noise Words function enables you to view an alphabetical list of the noise words.

  • Reindex - see Recreate word indexes
  • Browse Words - this option will only be available if you are not using SQL Text Indexing (see Content Manager Enterprise Studio help - Dataset setup and maintenance - SQL Text Index for further information) - select this option to view all indexed words.

You can configure the Indexed Words dialogue box to display the following columns:

    • Type - displays the word type
    • Usage Count - displays the number of times the word has been used in text fields
To display these columns, right-click the column header and select Format Columns and add the columns you want to see.
For further details about formatting columns in Content Manager windows and list panes, see Customising the list pane.
