Creating records using Client Location

This function allows you to create new records using the Client Location titling method.

The Client Location titling method enables you to select a Location from a list of available Locations.

Content Manager inserts this Location at the beginning of the free text section of the title.

This is useful when including a Location - for example, a Contact or Organisation name - in the record's title.

  1. From the File menu, click New
  2. From the list of Record Types presented, select the type of record you want to create by selecting it, then click OK.

    For example, select a Record Type that uses Client Location titling.

    A Client Location New Record form for the selected Record Type appears.

    Your Content Manager administrator set up the form for you and can customise it.

    The Content Manager administrator sets up the New Record form and determines which fields should be on it.

    By default, Client Location New Record forms include the Client Location and the Free Title fields.

  3. In the Client Location field, enter the Location you want to prefix the title with.

    Use KwikSelect to select from the list of available Locations.

    Alternatively, type in the Location name or part of a name and then KwikSelect.

    This will display all Locations that start with the characters you typed in.

    When you type a character in this field, Content Manager will attempt to resolve it by matching it with existing Locations.

    An item turning red in this field means that there is more than one item that starts with what you entered.

  4. Type in your title in the Free Title field
  5. Complete any other required fields on the New Record form
  6. Click OK to save the record.

    Content Manager may prompt you to manually assign a number to your record.

    Type in the number you want and click OK.

    Should the system be set up for automatic numbering and you get prompted to confirm the number, click OK to create the record or Cancel to return to the New Record form.

    Content Manager saves the record.
