Page formatting
Before creating or modifying a report layout, you need to make sure that the paper and label sizes are correct.
Changes to the paper size and section count only affect the report you are modifying.
NOTE: The Page Format setting overrides all other print settings. For example, if you have set the report layout to be Portrait orientation in the report layout designer's File - Paper Format dialogue, then you will not be able to select Landscape orientation in the Print Setup dialogue when you print the report.
- From within a Content Manager Report Layout window, on the File menu, click Paper Format.
The Content Manager Report Layout dialogue box appears with the Format tab.
- Page Format - select the page format for the report.
- Portrait - designed to fit onto both A4 and letter paper
- Landscape - designed to fit onto both A4 and letter paper
- Mailing Label - to print 2 x 8 labels onto an A4 sheet
- Small Mailing Label - to print 3 x 11 labels onto an A4 sheet
- Content Manager 1x4 Label - to print on Content Manager labels 4 to a single A4 sheet
- Content Manager 1x5 Label - to print on Content Manager Classic labels 5 to a single A4 sheet
- Full Page Label - to print onto a single A4 page label
- Custom 1 - set to Portrait by default.
Use this custom setting for creating any unusually sized paper or labels.
- Custom 2 - set to Landscape by default.
Use this custom setting for creating any unusually sized paper or labels.
- Number of areas - set the number of areas on the page.
- Number of areas - Horizontal - the number of columns
- Number of areas - Vertical - the number of rows
Use this option to set up a custom page and to print multiple print areas on a single page, for example, when printing labels or barcodes.
NOTE:
- Minimum number of areas is 1, maximum number of areas is 72 (vertically and horizontally). Minimum size of a label is 10mm.
Content Manager prints its barcodes using the Code 39: Basic Character Set - a standard for the representation of barcodes. Code 39 has low data density and means it requires a width of 150. Smaller size scanners may not be able to differentiate between thin and thick bars (black or white).
You need to know the number of columns and rows on each page and the size of each of the areas.
The paper layout function does not recalculate the size of each of the print areas for you.
Calculate the size of each area using the following guidelines:
- Take the total horizontal size of the page in points and divide it by the number of columns to get the width of each area
- Type this number in the Print area size - Horizontal box
- Take the vertical size of the page and divide it by the number of rows to get the height of each area
- Type this number in the Print area size - Vertical box.
NOTE: When printing record labels which use different vertical and horizontal print regions, the headers, footers or sub-bands will not be printed as they are not required for labels.
When the number of regions is changed, a message appears:
Having more than one area on a page will result in no headers, footers or sub-band information being printed.
- Print area size - adjust the report page size, for example, if you want to use a non-standard size like A3.
- Page margin offset - the size of the page
- Page Format - select the page format for the report.
- Click OK.
