Tag functions
Tagging in Content Manager enables you to select multiple items and apply the same function to them - for example, tag a set of records and change their Location, or use a right-click menu Show Records command with them.
A tagged item has a check mark before it ().
- Tag - changes the tag status of the currently selected item.
This enables you to perform tasks on only those items on the screen that are tagged.
- Lists in Content Manager display a tag column before the first data column.
Use it to tag an item.
- Left or right-clicking in this space will tag or untag the item:
- Lists in Content Manager display a tag column before the first data column.
When you right-click in a list pane, the following tag options are available:
- Tag All - tags all items in the active window.
This means that a check mark will appear next to each item.
- Untag All - untags all items in the active window.
This means that all tags will be removed.
- Invert All Tags - swaps around the tagged and untagged items.
When a search list appears, you can hold down the SHIFT key while selecting the tag function.
This will tag a block of records between the selected record to where you clicked the mouse button.
This behaviour mimics the SHIFT+MOUSE BUTTON function used in applications like Windows Explorer.
To tag multiple items, you can use the options above or:
- Hold down the SHIFT key and click in the tag column - will tag all rows between the previous tagged item and the new tagged item (inclusive)
- Hold down the SHIFT key and press the DOWN or UP ARROWS - will tag all rows from the currently selected item to the next selected item
- Hold down the SHIFT key and press the Page Down, Page Up, Home or End keys - will tag all rows from the currently selected item to the next selected item one page up or down the list
When you process tagged items (records, Locations etc), a dialogue box appears.
The title of this dialogue box depends on the function you are using.
- All Tagged Rows - apply the process to all tagged rows
- Current Highlighted Row Only - apply the process to the currently selected row only
- Always Show This Dialogue - clear to prevent this dialogue box from appearing in the future.
To turn this dialogue box back on, hold the SHIFT key while selecting the function to apply - for example, tag the items, then right-click and select a function while holding the SHIFT key.
This will display the Apply To dialogue regardless of the Always Show This Dialogue setting.
- Click OK to continue or Cancel to cancel the operation.
- An All Tagged Items dialogue box appears, prompting you to process each item individually or all tagged items.
Errors that occur during the process will also appear in this dialogue box.
Depending on the function you are using, this dialogue box will look differently.
- Click Yes to process each item individually
- Click Yes To All to process all tagged items. Any errors that occur during processing will be displayed in the Error tab, see Activity Log.
- Click No to cancel the processing of the next tagged item
- Click Cancel to cancel the operation.
