Adding records to containers by dragging

You can use dragging to contain one record within another.

  1. Search for both the record(s) you want to contain and the record(s) you want to be the container(s).

You can perform a search whose results will include both records.

    See Searching Content Manager.

    Alternatively, you can:

    1. Search for the record you want to contain - that is, the record to go inside a folder or box
    2. Search for the record you want to contain it in, i.e. the record to be the container
    3. Tile search result windows.
  2. Click the record you want to contain and drag it to the record you want to contain it in.

The record you are containing it in will be selected, and the Setting the Container for *** to ***dialogue box appears.

The dialogue box will notify you when the record is currently not in a container or whether the new container is closed.

  3. Select Enclose the record in the new container if you want the record to inherit the container attributes.
  4. Click OK.

NOTE:

  • If the Record Type of the record to be contained does not have the task Put In Container available, you will not be able to contain the record
  • The record being contained must be of a lower container level than the record it is being contained within
  • Dragging tagged lists of items is not supported.

Content Manager will only process the currently selected record when you drag a list of tagged records onto a container.
