System Options Currency page

The currency function enables you to define the default currency characters and format.

NOTE: When a new dataset is created, the currency settings are initialised based on the locale of the machine that is running the database. The default can be simply changed by editing the settings here.

  • Currency symbol - type in the symbol you want to reflect your currency.
  • Positive ormat - select the format for positive currency values.

NOTE: The $ symbol displayed here is an example. The symbol Content Manager uses is the one in the Currency Symbol field. The options are:

    • $1.1
    • 1.1$
    • $ 1.1
    • 1.1 $

  • Negative format - select the format for negative currency values
  • Decimal symbol - type in the symbol you want to indicate the decimal place. The default is the full stop (.).
  • No. of decimal digits - either type in or select the number of decimal places you want to display
  • Grouping symbol - type in the grouping symbol you want to use.

For example, a comma would display the number 10000 as 10,000, whereas a dash would show it as 10-000.

The default is the comma (,).

NOTE: Grouping/separator characters - decimal points are not supported for grouping separators. European numbering conventions involving decimal points and grouping/separator commas are a reverse of the British and American standards. The European convention dictates that the symbol for a decimal point is the comma (,) and the character for a grouping symbol value is the full stop (.). Currency page settings can be configured to conform to the European numbering standard for both currency and decimal Additional Fields. However, you may encounter problems - for example, when you use decimal points as a grouping separator in a decimal Additional Field, the following message will appear, There are more than one decimal symbols in the number. This is because both characters are treated the same. If you try to use a decimal Additional Field using a decimal point as a grouping separator on a New Record form, an error will appear and you cannot process the record any further until you change it so there are no grouping separators.

  • Digit grouping - select the type of digit grouping you want to use.

    The options are:

    • 123456789
    • 123,456,789
    • 1,23,45,67,89.00
  • Test - displays a sample of the currency in the selected formats
