Options Search Results page

The Search Results page enables you to set options around search results.

  • Use same search window when navigating - once a search is performed and the window remains currently selected, any subsequent navigation (right-click > Navigation menu) performed on the same type of object (records, locations, etc) will use the same results window. If this option is not selected, then each navigation will open a new results window.
  • Automatically view electronic documents - automatically displays electronic attachments when you select a record search result window.

NOTE: This option is not supported for Offline Records or Content Manager Desktop.

  • When expanding a container inside the search results list:
    • Include records with the 'alternatively within' relationship - shows both records contained within a container and those with an Alternatively within relationship with the container when you view or expand the container's contents.

Custom Sort Orders

A custom order can be set for when displaying records contained within:

  • Classifications
  • Containers
  • Clients
  • Matters

For the object type you want to define a default sort order for, click the KwikSelect on that field and a Default sort order... dialogue is displayed.

  1. Select Override default sort order when displaying... and then select the required fields to sort by.
  • Sort Fields - use the drop-down list to select the fields by which you want Content Manager to sort the search results.

The options that are available to you in these drop-down boxes depend on what you are searching for and which search editor you are using.

    • 1, 2, 3 - you can specify one, two or three sort fields.

Content Manager will sort the list by the field in the first box, then by the field in the second box and finally by the field in the third box.

      • No Sort - default.

Results appear as the search inquiry finds them in the dataset.

        Use for faster searching.

  • Descending - select for descending sort order.

By default, Content Manager sorts a list in ascending order of its sort field - with the lowest numerical, date or alphabetical value at the top of the list and the highest value at the bottom.

  1. Click OK.

This sort order will be used when expanding the selected object type, i.e. container, classification, client or matter, to view the contained records within.
