Alternative Container field
The Alternative Container field displays additional or alternative containers for a record.
In Records Management, this corresponds to a scenario when a document should be in two files at once.
You can have only one container record, but any number of alternative containers.
You can set any record as an alternative container.
The relationship between the record and its alternative containers is an alternative container relationship.
The alternative container relationship does not affect any of the contained record's settings.
You can use this field on a New Record form and modify it using the Properties - General tab.
The Alternative Container field behaves the same as a container field on New Record forms.
The Alternative Container field can be placed on a record's view pane to list any allocated alternative containers; however, only the first alternative container will appear.
Use the associated Alternative Containers field if you want to view all alternative containers in the view pane.
This field operates similarly to the Relationship Type field value Alternatively Within.
