Copy an Object

Use this page to copy an object's attribute values to a new object or to an existing object.

NOTE: When you copy from one object to another, the new object is just like the source object, including the addition and removal of the values from the source object's attributes. The process does not copy the following:

• The values of security and group membership
• The mandatory attributes of the source object that not present in the target object
• The attributes of the extended auxiliary classes of the source object that are not present in the target object. The attributes might be mandatory or optional to the class.

To copy an object:

1. Select the object whose attribute values you want to use.
2. Choose whether you want to create a new object or copy the values to an existing object.
3. You can also copy Access Control List (ACL) rights to the object you are creating or modifying. Copying ACL rights can take additional processing time, depending on your system and networking environment.
