Group Member Query

Use this page to specify the search criteria when looking for members of a group.

Dynamic Group Check Box

If you created a Group on the Create Group page and did not select the Dynamic Group check box, your group is static. Static groups can become dynamic by selecting the Dynamic Group check box on this page. After a static group becomes dynamic, it can be converted back to static status by deselecting the Dynamic Group check box.

If you created a Dynamic Group on the Create Group page, the Dynamic Group check box becomes read-only. The Dynamic Group cannot be converted to a static Group.

NOTE: If you see the message, "You cannot convert this group object because of its role assignments," and you really do want to convert the group, there is a way to do this:

  1. Go to Role Based Services.
  2. Remove the role assignment from this object.
  3. Come back to this page and make the group conversion.
  4. If you still want this group to have the previously assigned role members, then reassign the role.

Start Search at (Base dn)

The search base is the location that you are searching from; the starting point.

Search Scope

The search scope defines the depth and breadth of the search. If you don't specify the scope, the base scope is assumed.

Search Multiple Servers

Use the Search Multiple Servers option to indicate whether the search for Dynamic Members should involve multiple servers or only the server containing the Dynamic Group object. If you select yes, the server communicates with other servers while searching for Dynamic Members. If you select no, the search for Dynamic Members returns only local results. Take care when using this extension; it can result in lengthy operations.

Search Filtered Read Write Replica

The Search Filtered Read Write Replica option allows you to search for Dynamic Members in the Filtered Read Write Replica. From the list, select Yes to search for the members. Otherwise, select No. The Search Filtered Read Write Replica option is enabled only if you have selected No for Search Multiple Servers option.

Search Filter

The Search filter has two buttons: one for advanced search criteria, the other for editing.

Click the first icon to display the Advanced Selection Filter Criterion page.

Click the second icon to manually edit the string if you know the syntax.

For more information on search criteria, refer to RFC 2254.
