Additional Task Information

The following list contains additional information that you might need when defining tasks:

• Task ID: The name of the task. This is a required field. The name appears in the list of roles and tasks if the display key name is not defined (see below).

  Example: eguide.Modify Preferred Name

• Task type: Specifies whether a task is implemented as a plug-in or as a URL. URL task types are not currently supported. Specify the fully qualified name of the Java* class of the task.

  Example: com.novell.imanage.ndps.CreatePrinter

• Task version number: The task version number. Whenever you change the task definition, you need to update this number and the module version number.

  Example: 1.0

• Novell iManager version number: The minimum iManager version number required to run the task.

  Example: 2.0

• Role assignment: Specifies the roles that the task will be assigned to. The Available Roles list contains the roles defined in Step 3.

  To assign a role, select the role from the Available Roles list then click the Right-arrow button to move the role into the Assigned Roles list.

  To remove an assignment, select the role from the Assigned Roles list, then click the left-arrow button.

• Display key name: The key name of the property containing the task name that is displayed in the list of roles and tasks. The properties file used is the file specified in the Resource Properties File field in Step 2.

  Example: eGuideModifyPreferredName

• Description key name: The key name of the property containing the task description. This description can be localized, and it is used by configuration tasks such as Modify iManager Roles. The properties file used is the file specified in the Resource Properties File field in Step 2.

  Example: eGuideModifyPreferredNameDescription

• Merge template: The fully qualified name of the template used to create the initial display of the task. The fully qualified name is the name of the directory containing the task templates, followed by a period and the name of the template file (without the .htt extension).

  Example: ndps.CreatePrinter

• Error template: The fully qualified name of the template used to create error messages.

  Example: dev.GenErr

• Attribute assignment: Specifies the attributes that the task will manage. The Available Attributes list contains attributes that are available on the current tree.

  To specify an attribute, select it from the Available Attributes list, then click the right-arrow button to move the attribute to the Assigned Attributes list.

  To remove an attribute, select it from the Assigned Attributes list, then click the left-arrow button. If the attribute that you need to assign is not in the Available Attribute list, specify the attribute name in the text field and click the Up-arrow button.

• Task description: A description of the task. This description is an attribute of the Task object.

• Task data: Settings used by the task. Entries are in the form key=value.

  To specify a setting, type the setting in the field and press Enter.

  To edit a setting, select it from the parameter list, click Edit Item, edit the setting, and press Enter.
