On the Enterprise Server Administration home page, click
Details in the Status column of the server to become primary server.
Note: Typically, this will be the only server left in the group, as automatic failover would usually occur with three or more servers.

Click
ES Monitor & Control.
The Server Information page appears.

In the Resources group, ensure
iFileshare is selected, then click
Control.
The iFS Control page appears.

Select
Force Takeover, then click
Apply.
The following message appears:

Select
Confirm, then click
Apply.
The following message appears:

*** Takeover as Primary requested ***

To verify the process has completed successfully, click
iFSView, then click
server get.
In Current Server Status,
(Primary) should be displayed after the current server name.

Click
Home, then click
Details in the Communications Processes column for the new primary server
The fileshare listener should be in a
Started state.
The new primary server is ready to accept requests.
