To define a batch initiator or printer SEP

This defines a batch initiator or printer SEP that will be a permanent feature of the enterprise server, starting up whenever the enterprise server is started. If you want to start a batch initiator or printer SEP "on the fly" while the enterprise server is running, to run waiting jobs immediately, see To start a batch initiator or printer immediately.
  1. If you are starting a printer, make sure the enterprise server is running and was started from the command line.
  2. If the table of servers on the Home page is being displayed in summary form, expand it by clicking expand button.
  3. Click Edit by the server you want to add the initiator or printer to.
  4. Make sure the Server and Properties tabs are selected, then click MSS and then JES.
  5. Click Initiator or Printer.
  6. Click Add.
  7. Enter details in the fields.

In Class, type the list of job classes you want this initiator to run, or this printer to print; for example, ABC. The JOB CLASS of a JCL jobstream must match the class of a batch initiator SEP in order for the SEP to run the job. The MSGCLASS or SYSOUT class must match the class of a batch printer SEP in order for the SEP to print the output.

  8. For a printer, select a printer in the list in Printer Name.
  9. Click Add.
