Timeouts for Terminal Users

If a user is connected to a tn3270 terminal, and an ID timeout is specified either at the user level or at the system level (that is, the value specified in the SIT or overridden on the ESMAC Control page), then when the timeout is reached the user will be automatically signed-off and the default transaction specified in the SIT will be started.

Values are specified in minutes. If the value specified for the user is 0, the system timeout value is used. If the value specified for the user is -62, the user is never timed-out, irrespective of the system value. If any other value is specified for the user, that value is used in preference to the system value.

Note:

Note that Terminal timeouts (SIT parameter or user ID parameter) must be less than 16 hours.
