User Administration with MFDS

MFDS includes some administration capabilities for LDAP external security managers, if it is configured appropriately. (MFDS must be using the Security Manager in question for its security, and the ESM must be configured with a user ID that has update authority for the LDAP objects. See the MFDS documentation for more information.)

With the configuration described in the section Configuring Windows Users as Enterprise Server Administrators, MFDS can usually be used to administer MSS user groups and resource access definitions. Also, some user administration operations will succeed. However, other operations, such as changing the user's password, will either fail or have no effect, because they will update one of the user attributes which are not used in this configuration.
