Securing the Repository Files

In most installations, the information maintained by the Micro Focus Directory Server (MFDS), also known as the repository, is kept in a series of files on the local filesystem. (It is also possible to keep the repository in an LDAP server.) These files can contain sensitive data, so if non-administrative users have access to the system where MFDS is running, the system administrator needs to take steps to secure these files.

The location of the files is displayed in the MFDS user interface. To discover this location, click Options from the menu on the left, and then click the Repository tab.

You should set ACLs (Windows) or permissions (UNIX) on the repository files and directories so that they can be read and modified by the user account under which the MFDS process runs, but not by non-privileged users.
