To paint a screen

Restriction: This topic applies only when the AppMaster Builder AddPack has been installed, and applies only to Windows platforms.
  1. From the AppMaster Builder Project Explorer, double-click a screen name to access the Screen Painter.
  2. To paint each field, click Entryfield Entry Field Tool or Static Text Static Text Tool.
  3. Position the mouse where you want to place the field on your window. Click once to drop the field.
  4. Specify the field length by dragging the field to the size desired. Make sure the tracking option is turned on so you can watch the size increase or decrease.
  5. Do one or more of the following:
    • To specify attributes, double click on the field. The Field Attributes dialog box appears. Change the attribute defaults as appropriate.
    • To specify field edits for entry fields, click the painted field and click Edit > Field Edits.
    • To paint a system message field, see the Help topic To create system message fields.
    • To assign screen and generation attributes, double-click anywhere on the screen. The Screen Parameters dialog box appears. Specify desired parameters; specify environment-specific parameters from the menu bar.

  • To quickly paint several fields of the same type, use Sticky Mode.
  • To easily align fields, use the Alignment option.
  • Use the repeated block function to paint rows (blocks), of fields.
  • Test your screen functionality with the Test option.
