To define a data view

Restriction: This topic applies only when the AppMaster Builder AddPack has been installed, and applies only to Windows platforms.
  1. Be sure that all of the data source files you intend to add to this data view are in their respective project\group subdirectories. See the Data source locations section of the Data Source Files topic for details.
  2. From the Data View Explorer, right-click a data view entry.
  3. Select Add > Add data-source-type File from the context menu, where data-source-type is one of the following:
    • PSB
    • DBD
    • DDI IMS
    • SQL DDL
    • SQL SCHEMA
    • DDI VSAM
Note: Depending on the data sources already included in the data view, some of these options are grayed out.
  4. Optionally click Load to see a list of data sources defined in the project\group for the current data source type.
  5. On the Add data-source-type, the Name field is pre-populated with a recommended name for the data source. Do one of the following:
    • Leave the recommended name untouched (recommended).
    • Change the name by typing a new name into the field, or by selecting a new name from the list of existing data sources (not recommended).

For more information on data view and data source file naming conventions, see the Data view naming guidelines section in the Adding Data Views topic.

For a description of each field and control on this dialog box, see the Add Data Source reference topic.

  6. Click OK to add the data source file to the data view.
  7. Click Exit to close the dialog box.
Note: You can use alternative procedures to add IMS data sources from a PSB file, and to add SQL DDL data sources from a SQL Schema file. For details, see To add IMS data sources from a PSB file and To define or modify a SQL Schema file respectively.
